Questions, answered

Do I have to move my domain to Postra?
No. Your domain stays at your current registrar and your website keeps running untouched. You add a handful of DNS records — MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC — and Postra verifies each one for you before anything goes live.
What's the difference between a mailbox and an alias?
A mailbox is a real account with its own storage, password and webmail login. An alias is an extra address, like billing@, that delivers into a mailbox you already have. Most teams need a few mailboxes and a lot of aliases, which is why aliases are included rather than billed per address.
Can I move over from Gmail or Google Workspace?
Yes. Because your address lives on your domain, switching is a DNS change: point the MX records at Postra and new mail arrives here instead. Your old archive stays where it is — you can export it from Google Takeout and keep it, or import it later over standard protocols.
Will my mail land in spam?
Authentication is the part that's actually under your control, and Postra sets it up properly: SPF, DKIM and DMARC are generated for your domain, verified against public DNS, and re-checked over time. Outbound mail goes through a reputable relay with per-workspace sending limits, so one bad actor can't burn the shared reputation.
What happens to my mail if I cancel?
Your plan runs until the end of the billing period. Before it ends you can export your mail and repoint your DNS wherever you like. The domain is yours, so leaving is exactly as easy as joining — no exit fees, no retention maze.
Where is my data stored, and is it backed up?
On European infrastructure, with encrypted backups taken daily to object storage. Restores are tested rather than assumed — an untested backup isn't a backup.
